Close your eyes, take 3 deep breaths, with each ending in a slow exhale. Now imagine there are 4 more days left of a year you will never see again. You’re sitting on the floor of your living room, the fireplace is burning, soft music playing in the background and a pile of magazines are scattered in front of you while you mentally map out your vision board, planning to include all the desires of your heart for the coming year.
I truly believe in the power of vision boards; they are designed to reflect on how far we’ve come this year and manifest the journey ahead in the next. Pictured, is my 2021 Vision Board; you will see tons of curly hair and food inspired cut-outs as I made big plans in sharing my passion for food and natural hair care with each of you through my personal IG blog and website. You will also find a staircase of coins with a woman hiking to the top; this reflects the end of my two year grad school journey as I completed my MBA from Wake Forest University while going through a merger in my professional career and oh..yeah..let’s add a pandemic to that. My board also reflects the leap of faith I took in asking my Corporate America boss for a pay increase in the middle of a recession…and succeeding *huge grin*. And a host of other reminders that I stuck to the plan in relishing in the moments, decluttering all the things both physically and mentally in my life, while welcoming tranquility and peace into each day. Lastly, you will see an absolutely stunning diamond ring that represents Brandon, the love of my life, proposing to me in August of this year! So yeah, I’m obviously bias to this vision board concept as I’ve watched my own board come to life over the past 361 days!
This year, as I prepare to manifest my 2022, I encourage each of you to hold back NOTHING! No matter how extreme your vision may seem, DOCUMENT IT. There’s so much power in putting your dreams on paper and I promise you, there will be great benefit from planning ahead.
